District Mechanic Job Description Job Brief:
We’re looking for a Certified Mechanic who can help us keep our vehicles and other mechanical equipment running smoothly.
Mechanic Duties:
- Diagnose and make cost-effective repairs
- Provide timely maintenance reports on vehicles
- Maintain vehicles and other mechanical equipment by ordering parts, properly maintaining equipment, and conducting regular inspections
- Be responsible for securing, storing, and organizing parts
Mechanic Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs to vehicles and other mechanical equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with engines and transmissions
- Maintain service records
- Communicate with management regarding automotive issues
- Leverage your mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot complex vehicle issues
- Maintain proper tools and equipment
- Prepare and submit job quotes
- Document and report vehicle repairs
Requirements and Skills:
- 4+ years’ experience as a mechanic
- Knowledge of buses, cars, trucks, vans, and grounds equipment
- Knowledge of vehicle systems and their effect on vehicle operation
- Knowledge of vehicle inspection and repair practices
- Certification from Automotive Service Excellence or similar program
- Preferred Diesel Mechanic Certification and experience
Salary: Spartanburg School District Six Salary Schedule
