Behavior Specialist
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Certified with the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB), or in process
- Must maintain credentialing in compliance with the BACB, or in process
Performance Responsibilities:
- Develop materials/resources for students/teachers as needed.
- Assist in the management of behavior that is deemed unsafe.
- Establish rapport and work in a constructive, positive manner with staff and students
- Creatively solve problems and work through the conflict resolution process as a part of the education team
- Be on the team to collect data and prepare a variety of reports for the purpose of documentation, assessments, and progress.
- Keeps abreast of current research and information in the areas of behavior management and provides ongoing training and supervision of paraprofessional staff and teachers in the implementation of behavior reduction strategies.
- Work collaboratively with building and district staff to promote positive student behavior by providing professional development that targets research, strategies and modeling of instructional practices to support staff in their implementation of behavior supports.
- May work directly with students as a means of training instructional assistants, teachers, and other staff in the positive behavior support for a particular student.
Term: 200 days
Salary: Spartanburg School District Six Salary Schedule
